Manager, Operations Training

Manages the day to day activities of ERCOT's System Operations training team. JOB SUMMARY  Manages activities necessary to maintain the readiness of ERCOT Operators through formal training and the development of emergency operations plans and procedures.  Develops training for Black Start Service simulation and Emergency Drills.  Ensures the timely implementation of new procedures and procedural updates as required to support the  reliable and effective operation of the ERCOT Grid.  Essential Job Duties and Tasks Hires, coaches, trains, and conducts performance management for assigned staff. Reviews and approves staff timesheets and leave requests. Controls departmental budget to achieve financial goals. Manages the ERCOT System Operator training program. Coordinates with other management in System Operations and other technical support to ensure that system operators and support engineers are adequately trained in an effective manner. Develop tests and simulations for the ERCOT Black Start plan in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards. Oversees the timely implementation of new procedures and procedural updates as requiredsupporting the changing conditions within the market and system operations in coordination with the Manager of System Operations. Coordinates the development of Black Start and Emergency Drills and other training programs and make improvements as needed through evaluation of the effectiveness and sufficiency of these programs. Reviews Protocol and Operating Guide Revisions related to these activities and prepares comments as necessary. Maintains knowledge of Protocols and Operating Guides and ensures department compliance. Confirms that the appropriate documentation and adherence to ERCOT and departmental processes and procedures are in place and maintained. Ensures resource workload is clearly defined and appropriately coordinated to meet deliverable timelines. Defines goals, prepares budgets, and provides managerial direction to employees. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Adult Education or related disciplines or a combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge equivalent to a major in such fields. Master's degree in Adult Education, Business Administration (MBA), or related field is preferred. Certification & Licenses NERC Certification as a Reliability Coordinator is preferred. ERCOT System Operator Fundamentals Certification. Work Experience Minimum 8 years' (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsibleexperience in systems operation required. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
