QA Analyst at ERCOT in Taylor, TX

Develop and support application testing strategies and create test plans. Lead and coordinate quality assurance and testing activities in support of ERCOT projects with business testers. Perform system and functional testing. Coordinate testing, business and other teams to provide Project Management (PM) with estimates of testing efforts and testing resources. Create testing timelines for projects, including milestones, and provide daily updates to the project team of progress against timeline. Create reports and dashboards on defect metrics and testing progress using test management tool (Micro Focus Quality Center, ALM). Essential Job Duties Lead and coordinate functional, technical and vendor resources in testing efforts to ensure ERCOT testing process and procedure are followed. Develop test strategy, test plan and communicate strategy to relevant disciplines/stakeholders clearly and appropriately Develop and modify test scenarios and test scripts Perform system and functional testing Perform day-to-day coordination of testing activities Review test scripts to ensure appropriate tests are created and executed correctly to verify requirements Manage testing effort and defects though defect lifecycle Create testing progress reports, dashboard and test coverage using test management tool QC (ALM) Develop and promote quality testing practices Ensure that testing is completed to agreed standards and that business and operational acceptance criteria are met Liaise with other management and IT disciplines to ensure project testing objectives are met Report to management on testing and quality requirements/activities in order to identify any deviations from plan and to carry out any necessary corrective action Develop new and maintain existing UFT test scripts Supports test data requests In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, perform tasks assigned by the supervisor and manager Job Competencies Functional/Technical Skills Time and Process Management Problem Solving Written and Verbal Communication Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Systems or related field or eight years applicable experience is required Work Experience Required Minimum of 5 years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in Software system and application testing 3
years of managing and coordinating system and application testing Minimum of 5 years with Micro Focus Quality Center (ALM) Minimum of 3 years with Unified Functional Testing (UFT) Minimum of 2 years with data validation Demonstrable experience of creating quality assurance artifacts to include test plans, test scripts and test reporting Expertise in PL/SQL Excellent oral and written communication skills Superior computer skills including common business applications such as MS Windows and MS Office including Excel, Word and Access
