JOB SUMMARY Manages Market Operation Support team JOB DUTIES Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff. Frequently interacts with reporting supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas or customers. Responsible for the management of subordinate staff within a department. Typically has individual contributors as direct reports, but could have supervisory direct reports. Has full responsibility for direct reports. Generally provides input to budgeting and financial decisions that impact the department. Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope. ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES Manager Market Design Manages market analysis and other team members within Wholesale Market Operation. Recommends modifications to existing rules or proposes/evaluates new market rules to address observed or expected performance issues. Assesses the effects that modeling decisions, market algorithms and software implementation have on market outcomes. Develops methods and systems for evaluating effects that existing and proposed processes have on market efficiency and prices. Hires, coaches, trains, and evaluates the performance management of staff Reviews and approves staff timesheets and leave requests Prepares and administers O& M and capital budgets and financial goals for the department Runs periodic market stress tests and analyzes the results Oversees after-the-fact analysis of the effects that operator decisions, market algorithms and software implementation had on market outcomes Proposes, develops, and evaluates new wholesale electricity market design initiatives that foster economic and reliable system and market operations Investigates potential changes to market models and algorithms to improve Engages directly with Market Participants, including presentations and general representation of ERCOT staff at stakeholder meetings. performance and evaluate the proposed changes on market outcomes Manages statistical and economic studies of the models and algorithms used to clear and price electricity markets Develops measures of market performance Works with various internal groups in designing and maintaining tools, models and databases useful in performing the functions of market design, market process improvement, market analysis, market monitoring, and market reporting Works with other departments and project teams to design and implement changes to market system and related system functionality. Supports analysts in researching Market Participants' questions and disputes with the ERCOT market and addresses Market Participant needs on support operations. Identifies issues and escalates as appropriate to Director, Wholesale Markets Performs other duties as assigned
Experience:
In electric utility industry particularly electric utility operations and market deregulation/restructuring Requires minimum 8 years related work experience and 2 years in a leadership role in excess of degree requirements EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree :
Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field (Required) Master's Degree :
Engineering, Business (Preferred) or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Engineering Management, Electrical Engineering, Marketing Research & AnalysisEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
